Subconsciously, your probable response to this question could be ‘yes’. Why? Well, because your thought patterns seem to lead you there.
Life is like a box of chocolates and you do get to choose the one you want! Each day, millions of people wake up, expecting to be affected by the economic crisis. There are some, who don’t. Strangely, in such situations, ignorance truly is bliss. Those few people somehow end up feeling and doing better than the rest!
Personally, I don’t think the recession has affected me in any way. I still exist on the same planet as you do and I am an active individual with a family and flourishing career! So, what do I do differently?
Follow up:
To begin with, I would rather not spend precious time absorbing any negative news from sources that I can choose to avoid. I can get through the day just as well without watching the news or reading the papers.
I know that it may not be as easy as it sounds but it is possible to avoid ’sensational news’ and get on with a smoother life. You would not miss out on any important news either because someone will tell you about it anyway!
The media thrives on sensationalism and sadly, so do the consumers. The more we listen, talk and think about the negative issues that occur, the more we turn this phenomenon into a vicious cycle.
Again, I have nothing against the media. I just believe that my life is blissful as long as I am ignorant.
If I want to gether some information about anything that I need to know, I just need to look up for it. Yes, I prefer the ala carte approach to the buffet.
No one wants to be affected by the recession and if you refuse to let it intrude, it won’t. Try it. It won’t hurt.
If your company has been working hard at laying off people and you are worried that you might just be in the queue, the best thing to do about it would be to stop thinking about it. Just focus on putting in your best efforts. Take each day as it comes.
Its best not to think about the negative aspects of any situation for by doing so, you are addding more energy into that element. The last thing you need, is a self-imposed crisis.
The less you entertain negative thoughts, the less you attract them. It’s a scientific fact and not a motivational one.
There is more to entertainment than the news. Watch programs that make you laugh or leave you feeling emotionally enlightened.
Read comics or psychologically uplifting materials, especially when you begin or end your day.
Like I said earler, it would not be easy at first but with time, you will realize that the world is indeed a wonderful place to live in!

Other than that, it's a good article. I've read Cover, Carnegie and many other motivational speakers/writers, and find many of them very helpful.
All the best,

As for the 'nit' you picked, I must stress on the fact that I meant that it would be wiser to avoid reading or listening to negative news that tends to trigger fear, sadness and anger.
Mindful knowledge has never harmed anyone. It can't.
Again, thank you for your comment :)
