How Would You Sell Yourself?

Humans are natural salespeople. We are constantly selling something, consciously or even otherwise. Although we refrain from using the term ’sell’ to describe it, it all eventually depends on how good you are at ’selling’ yourself as a person to others.
Follow up:
Selling is merely displaying the positive characteristics in an attractive manner in order to entice a person to want to buy the product or service. People disguise themselves in different roles each day in order to convince others of how good a job they can do with each role they play in life. We all strive to excel in the roles we play.
Before I go any further, I have to let you know that the term ’sell’ has only been used to stress on the basic structure of the topic and not with any negative intentions.
We all come across various situations in life where we have to impress others such as a date,interview,wedding,social gathering,business meetings, etc.,
There are less prominent occasions too, where moderate qualities that have to be displayed for one to appear presentable and appropriate are required.
This does not mean we are constantly looking for better ways to pretend to be people we really aren’t. It means, that we need to change our display cards to fit each role we play throughout life.
Well, none of the display cards would seem flashy enough to make a sale unless you know how to sell yourself to you!
How do you sell yourself to you each day? Do you display your USPs or WSPs (worst selling points)?
Do you remind yourself of how dreadful the day is going to be at work? Do you keep telling yourself that you are horrible at remembering names and faces? Do you doubt if you make a good parent?
These are, unfortunately, the worst selling points for anyone! Listen to the kind of words you are using to describe yourself. Do they sound like someone you would like to rely on? Does it make you want to give yourself the ‘Most Responsible Person Of The Year’ award??
Call it auto-suggestion, law of attraction or whatever else you would like to but at the end of the day, you are what you keep saying and thinking you are.
Before you step out of your bed tomorrow, put out the brightest, best display board and sell it to yourself. Unless you are happy with what you see, you will not be able to sell your wares anywhere else.
People do read between the lines and so remember not to leave too much space in between for them to doubt your credentials.
Be the best in everything you do. Tell yourself that repeatedly until it is permanently tattooed in your brain cells. How can I be so sure? Well, I have a brilliant display board and I know I am proud of what’s on it!4 comments
